Did you know your pain is often NOT on the weak side?
Most people assume that the painful area is weak. In reality, pain often comes from functional asymmetry and muscle imbalance between the left and right sides of the body.
One side becomes tight and overactive, while the other side becomes underused. This side to side imbalance forces the body into a constant compensation pattern, creating stress, stiffness, and eventually pain.
This is why pain is not weakness. The painful side is usually doing too much work, not too little. Over time, this movement dysfunction affects posture, breathing, and load sharing, leading to chronic pain causes that don’t show up on scans.
In conditions like back pain imbalance or hip imbalance, the issue is often poor core asymmetry and loss of control between the weak side vs tight side.
The body adapts, but the adaptation creates an asymmetrical posture and inefficient movement.
Correct corrective exercises don’t just stretch or strengthen randomly. They restore balance by improving neuro muscular control, reducing postural imbalance, and retraining how your body moves as one unit. That’s the real goal of physiotherapy exercises fixing the cause, not chasing the pain.
If you feel pain mostly on one side or notice a clear left right imbalance, your body may be asking for movement correction, not rest.
