You probably don’t realize it… but long hours of sitting slowly change how your hips behave.
When you sit for extended periods, your hips stay in a flexed position (bent at about 90°). Over time, the muscles responsible for lifting your leg mainly the hip flexors like the psoas and iliacus begin to adapt to this shortened position.
Muscles are highly adaptable. If they remain shortened for long periods, they gradually lose their normal length and flexibility.
At the same time, the surrounding fascia and connective tissues can become less mobile, making the area feel stiff when you stand up or move.
This is why people who sit for long hours often experience:
